This is a pair of AudioQuest Rocket 88 speaker cables configured for Single BiWire (SBW) use with our Less Frills termination option. Rocket 88 is one of AudioQuest’s most refined speaker cable designs, engineered to deliver exceptional clarity, dynamic authority, and musical coherence across the entire frequency spectrum.

Conductors & Geometry

Rocket 88 uses 100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors throughout — AudioQuest’s highest-grade copper. By eliminating strand interaction and surface irregularities, PSC+ significantly reduces distortion and preserves low-level detail, resulting in greater focus, smoother textures, and improved tonal density.

The cable employs AudioQuest’s Double Star-Quad geometry, which minimizes inductance while maintaining excellent current delivery and transient response. A braided outer jacket provides durability, flexibility, and a clean, professional appearance.

“Less Frills” Termination Explained

This Less Frills version does not include the AudioQuest DBS (Dielectric-Bias System). DBS is available only on factory-terminated Rocket 88 cables.

By omitting DBS, this version offers:

Lower cost
Identical conductor quality and geometry
No compromise in build integrity or termination quality

For many systems, especially those prioritizing value and proper termination, this configuration delivers outstanding performance without unnecessary extras.

Termination Details

Each cable is Single BiWire terminated, with two connectors at the amplifier end and four connectors at the speaker end.

We use authentic AudioQuest cold-welded connectors, creating a gas-tight, low-distortion connection without solder.

Special care is taken at every stress point:

Cable legs finished with high-quality polyolefin flexible heat shrink
Breakout finished with genuine AudioQuest semi-flexible, adhesive-lined heat shrink with the official AudioQuest logo, preventing jacket creep over time
Connectors reinforced with rigid adhesive-lined heat shrink to reduce strain from movement and flexing — a common failure point in lesser terminations

Hand Terminated & Tested

These cables are personally terminated by Harry (the “H” of HCM Audio). Harry has been professionally terminating speaker cables for over 40 years and takes extreme care to ensure that no conductors are nicked or compromised during assembly. Each cable is hand-tested and sealed in a protective plastic bag prior to shipment.
